Ruins, Decadence, Decay…

Ahh ruins… evidence of decline, cautionary tale or just picturesque beauty?  Note to self: must read Christopher Woodward’s In Ruins. I also vaguely remember Karsten Harries saying something about this in The Ethical Function of Architecture. Also, I’m almost certain Romita Ray has written something about this in her new book, which I can’t wait to read.

Additional notes to self: G.H.R. Tillotson “The Indian Picturesque” (what a weird-ass conclusion) Also… remember to upload the article for the Architectural review by Pevsner that showed a modern housing estate photographed in the English picturesque tradition.
